In GIS the quality of any spatial analysis or derived product has a direct correlation with the quality of input data. False or unpredictable results can arise from using data that contains topology errors or invalid feature geometry. In some cases, data errors will prevent geoprocessing tools from functioning entirely as QGIS does not try to fix data automatically. The Geometry Checker core plugin can validate a dataset’s geometry and topology and propose a fix. In this course, we will run the Geometry Checker against a landcover dataset with some common geometry problems present within the data.
