Raster Analysis

This course will cover several raster analysis tools from QGIS. First, we will calculate the distance from major rivers in Wake County, NC using the raster proximity tool. Then, we will reclassify the distance raster into a raster stream buffer to identify areas that are critical for conservation. We can then use zonal statistics to calculate the area within each watershed that is near major rivers and further identify which watersheds should be prioritized for riverbank conservation programs.
